Summer Food Service number are in...

Our Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for 2011 has come to an end. This has been a remarkable year…serving 8948 lunches in just 49 days. This is nearly 1200 more lunches than last year. The SFSP started at Oats Park in 2005 and has grown each year. In 2010 we expanded to six sites: four city parks, one Nevada Rural Housing Authority property and the Club.

Each day Banner Churchill Community Hospital prepared nearly 200 lunches. The Club’s staff would pick up the lunches at the hospital and spend the next two hours handing out lunches to anyone between the ages of 2-18 that needed lunch.

This program was established in the mid-1970’s to provide meals to children who typically receive free or reduced cost lunches during the school year. The Fallon Youth Club is very proud to be a part of such a long standing program. The growth that we have seen in the few short years we have been participating speaks to the need in our community.

The SFSP is funded by USDA monies distributed throughout the state by the Nevada Department of Education. This program funds the cost of the meals in full, however it only covers about 25% of the payroll costs associated with the distribution of the meals around the community. When you support the Fallon Youth Club, you not only support our daily activities, but you also help feed hundreds of children nutritious meals during the summer months.

Thank you for your support; it makes what we do every day possible! If you would like to help click the link below...
